The Lorax

In the first episode of Cinema in Review, Joe takes a look at the adaptation of his favorite Dr. Suess book, The Lorax. Is it a soaring swamy swan, or a big ol' steaming pile of gloppity glop.

Short Review: The Lorax is an excellent adaptation, with a lot of heart. It is well animated and some scenes are incredibly funny. However, it does squander some of the integrity of the story in exchange for cheap laughs and unnecessary songs. Worth a look, but nothing special.

Video Review:

What you will like:

  1. The heart and message of the original story are portrayed very faithfully.
  2. "How Bad Can I Be"
  3. The animation is very beautiful, its top quality.

What you will hate:

  1. A LOT of jokes are very bad puns.
  2. Too many overly cutesy sell-out characters.
  3. Most songs are completely unnecessary.
  4. The heart and integrity is compromised sometimes by corporate funding.

Final ScoreCheck It Out.
